Vesak Day – Borobudur, Indonesia (7 May 2020, Thursday)
Vesak (or Waisak) is a major Buddhist event and commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana of the Lord Buddha some 2500 years ago. What better time to visit this world heritage site that took almost a century to complete by the Javanese empire Sailendra back in 800 AD.
With 504 Buddha statues and 2,670 relief panels depicting various aspects of Buddhism, including the life of the Buddha, Jataka tales and aspects of the Avatamsaka Sutra, be prepared to spend at least three hours peering at these amazingly detailed panels.

Modelled after the Xi Chan Si (Western Zen Temple) in Fuzhou, LSSLM has been extensively restored and looks completely new despite 120 years old.
